I have two weeks before I move into the dorms, and I thought they would be fun what with a horse show coming up... but when i arrived at the barn this evening I saw my trainer taking care of her horse... her horse had colic. Colic is life threatening for horses, and there is suspect that this is the most irreversible of the 5 types of colic. It is incredibly painful for the horses... 24 hours after they're diagnosed if they aren't better the horse gets put down or it would be considered cruelty to animals. The only way for Johnny (the horse) to pull through this is if we're mistaken about the type of colic or incredibly expensive surgery that my trainer can't afford... so by tomorrow morning I will know if he is dead or not.
That was my week... this is only motivating me more to become an equine veterinarian.
